I am Marie Morrow and I am an artist. I know I am an artist because I see art everywhere – I see a horse or a medicine man in a palm frond; I see a sea goddess in the basket of shells and drift wood I collect on the beach. That gourd – it’s not just a gourd – it’s a mass of hibiscus blossoms touched by dragonfly and humming birds.
I studied art in college and have worked in, and taught, many mediums – oil paint, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil, pastel, collage and assemblage – just to name a few.
I’ve won awards for my work but what I am proudest of is my work with my students. I’ve tried to teach them to see art everywhere, and I think, sometimes I have succeeded.
