Gourds belong to the Cucurbitaceae family. Some members of this family include melons, pumpkins, zucchinis and cucumbers. The difference is they are inedible and dry… hard like wood.
No two gourds are alike and vary in shape, size and thickness. This stimulates ones creativity. Hard-shelled gourds can be carved, wood burned, and painted. The list of embellishments are endless. This wonder of nature is then turned into a beautiful work of art.
